Fishtrap Lake trail

20130520-_DSC0695Another shot from the Fishtrap Lake trail system. Blooming right now: blue flag, wild onion, sticky geranium, camas, puccoon and more. Bitterroot should be blooming in the next week or two.

Fishtrap Lake wildflower wanderings

20130520-_DSC0680The western blue flag is currently at its peak on the Fishtrap Lake trail system, one of the best spots for wildflower wandering in eastern Washington. Incidentally, the mosquitoes at their peak, too; bring bug repellent!

Fields Spring State Park

20130504-_DSC0574Fields Spring State Park has, in addition to Puffer Butte trail, several old roadbeds that make for fine wandering–and in the winter, Nordic skiing. The Corral trail accesses several great viewpoints of the Grand Ronde River canyon.

Puffer Butte

Puffer Butte, Fields Spring State Park. This small state park in the Blue Mountains of southeast Washington has one of eastern Washington’s best wildflower hikes, the 3-mile Puffer Butte loop. Blooming now are phlox, desert parsley, shooting star, ballhead waterleaf and more.20130503-_DSC0497
