Antelope Island – 4

One more from Antelope Island State Park at the Great Salt Lake. The summer haze from wildfires in the region added an unearthly tint to the sky. Add the Great Salt Lake to your “must-see sunsets” list.

Antelope Island – 3

Summer storm over the Great Salt Lake. I was fortunate to get some interesting weather since I’d been told Salt Lake City had had only one day of rain this summer. I was also fortunate that the electrical storm didn’t pass directly over head!

Antelope Island – 2

Another shot, taken just after sunset, from Antelope Island State Park on the Great Salt Lake. I recommend an overnight stay, or at least staying past sunset, to truly experience the otherwordly, prehistoric nature of the Great Salt Lake.

Antelope Island

Sunset from Antelope Island State Park, Great Salt Lake, UT.¬†Almost forty miles of hiking trails and a resident herd of bison grace this island, which has changed little since ranchers settled it in the late 19th century. Stay for the sunsets, which are some of the best I’ve seen

Mount Headley

Meadow on Mount Headley Trail, Cube Iron – Silcox Roadless Area, MT. In the foreground is giant hyssop (Agastache urticifolia), which smells just like black licorice.
