Purple sage

Purple sage (Salvia dorrii) is one of my favorite native shrubs. With pungent evergreen leaves and columns of purple flowers that bloom in mid-summer, purple sage is a wildlife magnet. You can find it through central and eastern Washington, including the Odessa – Lake Creek trail near Odessa and the South Hill bluffs in Spokane.
