Sunset on the rocks – Crescent City

After days of torrential rains, the sun finally broke through for an amazing sunset. I intended to go to a sandy stretch of beach but realized I didn’t have time, so I shot these rocks instead. I’m glad I did. The light reflecting in the tide pools was incredible.

Crescent City – dusk and fog

Dusk settles over the coast at Crescent City, California. The thick clouds, misty spray of ocean and dark rocks combine for an ethereal feel, precursor to several days of non-stop torrential rains.

Spring color on Cougar Mountain


Spring color on Cougar Mountain in the Colville National Forest south of Republic, Washington. Wildflowers are a bit late this year, but desert parsley, larkspur and oval-leaved buckwheat can be found blooming on mid-elevation slopes.
